2021-03-12 Second Phase of the Construction Industry COVID-19 Testing Service Scheme (CITS) To further strengthen the prevention of virus at construction sites, the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Hong Kong Construction Association (HKCA) with the support from the Development Bureau of the HKSAR Government, jointly launched the first phase of “Construction Industry COVID-19 Testing Service Scheme” from 22 December 2020 to 131 March 2021.   Upon the completion of the 1st phase, the “Construction Industry COVID-19 Testing Service Scheme 2.0” will be launched from 15 March to 17 April 2021, in which two timely services will be provided to different sites under this Scheme:   On-site testing services for larger construction sites (e.g. sites with 100 site staff or above); and Distribution and collection services of deep throat saliva specimen collection packs for smaller construction sites (e.g. sites with 1-99 site staff).   The two services will be subsidised by the CIC, the HKCA and the Development Bureau, which are free of charge. Each site can only apply for one of the above services in accordance with the number of site staff. The decisions of the CIC and the HKCA shall be final.  For any construction site that is interested in participating in this Scheme, its main contractor should complete the following APPLICATION FORM and submit to CIC by email [email protected] for arrangement of the related services. The deadline for application is 31 March 2021.  Click here for more details Read more 2021-03-11 COVID-19 Vaccination Programme - Registered Construction Workers & Other Resident Site Staff The HKSAR Government announced on 8 March 2021 (Monday) that registered construction workers will be included in the priority group for the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme. With further clarification from the Development Bureau, the Government will expand the scope of the priority group further to cover “other resident site staff” in addition to “registered construction workers”. Under the programme, both registered construction workers and other resident site staff can get vaccinated early to further protect themselves and others.   For more information, please visit: www.covidvaccine.gov.hk.  "Other resident site staff" includes all personnel employed by contractors / consultants / clients to work at construction sites, for example architects, engineers, land surveyors, quantity surveyors, contract managers, site managers and supervisors , site foremen, technicians, safety officers, clerical staff, tea servers, security guards and drivers, etc.   Booking for vaccination: The Construction Industry Council and the Hong Kong Construction Association appeal to main contractors and subcontractors to encourage workers and resident site staff to get vaccinated. Contractors are also encouraged to assist workers in making reservation through the online booking system.      After making reservation online, workers and resident site staff must present the below identity documents when going for vaccination as a proof for priority group: 1.   Construction workers: Construction Workers Registration Card issued by the Construction Industry Council 2.   Other resident site staff: Completed and signed letter with company / organisation chop issued by employer (The sample letter can be downloaded from the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme website www.covidvaccine.gov.hk.
