Fatal accident - A male worker fell from height to the ground while cleaning air-conditioner

The Labour Department (LD) is highly concerned about the work accident that happened in Discovery Bay this afternoon (October 17), in which a male worker while cleaning a split-type air-conditioner at the external wall of a residential unit located on the second floor fell from height to the ground. The worker was certified dead in hospital. The LD is saddened by the death of the worker in the accident and expresses its deepest sympathy to the victim's family.
 
The LD's spokesman said, "We commenced immediate on-site investigation as soon as we were notified of the accident."    The spokesman added, "We will complete investigation as soon as possible to identify the cause of the accident, ascertain the liability of the duty holders and recommend improvement measures. We will take actions pursuant to the law if there is any violation of the work safety legislation."

Female worker was crashed and pressed by a power-operated elevating work platform

An industrial accident occurred at the site of the Liantang Port in Ta Kwu Ling. During the work of a female worker yesterday (15th), the accident was hit by a power-operated elevating work platform. The right arm was seriously injured and exposed. The female workers were later sent to the hospital for treatment. It is known that female workers are not life-threatening.


A spokesman for the Labour Department said that he did not receive the report of the accident yesterday. After receiving media enquiries yesterday, he took the initiative to send staff to the relevant sites for investigation and confirmation of the incident. The investigation is still in progress. Another industrial casualty interest will quote the news that the lifting platform was being lifted at the time. During the process, the rigging was suspected to be loose, and the lifting platform was squatted, hitting the female worker standing below.

Fatal accident - Tuen Mun site lifts crashed and crushed a male worker

An industrial accident occurred at a site at 8 Tsui Tsui Road, Tuen Mun on 8 October. A male worker named Mr. Chan (64 years old) installed a lift at the upper lift slot. During installation,  a lift was suspected of being fallen. Mr Chan was caught off guard, and the elevator that was crashed down was trapped at the bottom of the trough. Other workers found it and immediately notified the person in charge of the site and called for help. Police, fire and ambulancemen arrived at Tuen Mun Hospital and were sent to Tuen Mun Hospital where they were certified dead. After preliminary investigations, the police believed that the incident was unquestionable and the case was classified as an industrial accident.

Fatal accident - A male worker was suspected crashed by a lifting crane

A fatal industrial accident occurred in Yuen Long on 4th October at 2 pm.  A male worker Mr Li (60 years old) was suspected of being crashed by a lifting crane in Lau Fau Shan.    After preliminary investigations, the Police believed that the incident was unquestionable and was classified as an industrial accident. The officers of the Labour Department were informed to follow up the cause of the accident.

Two workers got injured during the lorry crane lifting of the angle bracket

There was an industrial accident happened in an open warehouse near Tiantian Village, Tianxia Road, Xia Village, Yuen Long on 26 September afternoon.  During a lorry crane lifting of the angle bracket, the crane jib was suspected to be split over and dropped to the ground from about 2 meters height.  A male crane driver Mr Kwok (64 years old) fell to the ground and is hand and head was hurted. 

 

In the meantime, a truck was parked nearby and the truck driver, Mr Lam (46 years old) saw the situation and feared being rammed, immediately jumped to escape and suffered head injured by the angle iron bracket.  The person-in-chage, Mr Fok (46 years old) saw and reported the case.
 
When the ambulanceman arrived, he found that the two injured workers were awake and sent them to the hospital for treatment. After preliminary investigations, the police believed that the incident was unquestionable and classified it as an industrial accident.
